# RP Settings

<p class="doc-lead">RP Settings controls workspace-wide returnable packaging behavior. Currently configures whether serial number tracking is enabled across all RP transactions and reports.</p>

Go to <b>RP → RP Settings</b>.

<p>Changes apply workspace-wide. Enable serial tracking before issuing high-value assets like ice cream deep-freezers or gas cylinders. Bulk items like milk crates typically work with serial tracking off and quantity-only lines.</p>

| Has Serial Number | Shows Sl No column on all RP transaction item lines and on stock/transaction reports. | Turn on when you track individual units (freezers, cylinders). Turn off for bulk crates and tins counted by quantity only. |

<p>Individual <a href="#/rp/rp-item">RP Items</a> also have their own <b>Has Serial Number</b> flag — both workspace setting and item flag must align for serial entry on a given item.</p>

<h2 id="faq">FAQ</h2>

<p><b>What happens when I enable Has Serial Number?</b><br>Sl No appears on Customer RP, Supplier RP, RP Center Transfer, Opening RP, and RP Deposit lines, plus on Center Wise, Customer Wise, and transaction reports.</p>

<p><b>Can I mix serial and bulk items?</b><br>Yes — enable workspace serial tracking, then set <b>Has Serial Number</b> only on RP Items that need it (freezer yes, milk crate no).</p>

<p><b>Example: ice cream factory with freezers and crates?</b><br>Enable Has Serial Number. Create RP Item <i>Deep Freezer</i> with Has Serial Number on; create <i>Milk Crate</i> with Has Serial Number off. Freezers tracked by SN-0042; crates by count.</p>
<p><b>Global serial toggle?</b><br>When on, serial number field appears on all RP transactions.</p>
<p><b>Field sale app?</b><br>RP on van sales uses same serial rules when enabled.</p>
