FAQ

Can I create a task from inside a project?
Yes. Open the project view, go to Project Tasks, and click New — the project is pre-selected.

What is the difference between Employee In charge and Team Members?
Employee In charge is the primary owner. Team Members are additional employees who also work on the task.

How do materials on a task relate to inventory?
Material lines define requirements. Use Task Wise Material to compare required, requested, and received quantities against stock.

Can I delete a task that has material requests?
Delete may be blocked when material requests or inventory documents reference the task. Complete or cancel open requests first, or leave the task and mark it Completed.

Why can't I edit a completed task?
Use Reopen or change status back to On Going from the task view before editing dates, assignees, or materials.

What progress values are allowed?
Progress must be between 0 and 100. Setting progress to 100 auto-completes the task — status changes to Completed and the end date is recorded. Setting progress above 0 on a Not started task moves it to On Going, and lowering progress below 100 on a Completed task reopens it to On Going. You can still use Complete from the more menu to finish a task directly.

Can a task belong to multiple categories?
No. Each task is assigned to one Project Category. Create separate tasks if work spans multiple trades.

How do parent and child tasks work?
Select a Parent Task when creating a sub-task. The WBS on Project Schedule reflects the hierarchy for schedule reporting.

Do material lines reserve stock?
No. Material lines are planning quantities only. Create a Material Request from Task Wise Material to request stock for shortages.

Can I assign a task to a project category not mapped to the project?
Map the category first via Project Category Mapping or Assign Template on the project, then select it on the task.
