# Production Plan

A Production Plan schedules multiple items for production over a date range at a center. Create a plan from scratch, from a Sale Order, or from selected items on the Item Wise Sale Orders report, then generate Production Orders from plan lines — linking back to the plan for tracking.

Select the item rows to produce.

Click Create Production Plan on the selection action bar.

View — Item Lines also shows an Ordered column (quantity already covered by Production Orders) and a PO column with a Create PO action per line.

View — Linked Production Orders table shows Id, Number #, Item, Quantity, Due Date, Status for orders created from the plan.

Create Orders from Plan Lines

On an Approved (or In Progress) plan, each item line in the View shows a Create PO button in the PO column.

Open the approved plan.

In the item line, click Create PO. A new Production Order opens pre-filled with the item, variant, unit, BOM or Multi Stage BOM, center, branch, due date, and the line's remaining quantity.

Save the Production Order — it links back to the plan and its line.

Partial ordering & remaining balance: the quantity already covered by non-cancelled Production Orders shows in the Ordered column. If only part of a line has been ordered, the Create PO button stays available and shows the balance, e.g. Create PO (Bal: 10). Clicking it starts a new order pre-filled with just the remaining quantity. Once the full planned quantity is ordered, the button disappears for that line.

Example: A line planned for 20 with a Production Order already created for 10 shows Ordered 10 and Create PO (Bal: 10) — create another order for the remaining 10.

FAQ

How do Production Orders link to a plan?
Orders created from plan lines show the Production Plan reference on the Production Order view.

What does Update Plan do?
Lets you adjust approved plan lines or generate/update linked orders per your configured workflow.

Can one plan span multiple centers?
The header center is the default; individual lines can specify different centers when creating orders from lines.

Can I edit plan lines after PO created?
Lines linked to production orders lock — cannot edit or delete those lines.

Plan date rules?
End date must be on or after start date; line dates must fall within plan period.

How do I create a plan from a Sale Order?
Open an approved Sale Order → more (⋮) → Create Production Plan. The plan opens pre-filled with the sale order's producible items; adjust and save.

How do I create a plan from Item Wise Sale Orders?
Run Item Wise Sale Orders, select items → Create Production Plan. Lines are pre-filled with quantities and default BOMs; set center and end date, then save.

What BOM is filled from Item Wise Sale Orders?
The first active BOM for each item. Change it on the plan if the item has more than one BOM. Items without an active BOM are left blank for you to choose.

When do I use Multi Stage BOM instead of BOM?
Use Multi Stage BOM for items produced through multiple stages; use the single BOM for single-stage items. A line can use only one of the two.

A line is only partly ordered — how do I order the rest?
The line keeps a Create PO button showing the balance (e.g. Create PO (Bal: 10)). Click it to create another order for just the remaining quantity. The button disappears once the full planned quantity is ordered.

How do I see raw material demand for a plan?
Use Plan Wise Raw Materials under Production → Reports. It consolidates BOM requirements across plan lines (or use Show Detailed per plan line), shows totals, and can create Material Requests from the bottom selection bar.
