<h2 id="overview">Overview</h2>

Go to <b>Inventory → Inventory Reports → Serial Number Enquiry</b>.

<p><b>What it shows.</b> Enter a serial number to see the item it belongs to (name, code, type, base unit), whether it is currently in stock, the center holding it and its value, followed by a list of every transaction for that serial number. Click a transaction to open the underlying voucher.</p>

<p><b>When to use it.</b> Use to trace a single serialised unit — for warranty checks, returns, and to confirm whether a serial number is still in stock and where.</p>

<li><b>Service / support</b> — Is this serial number genuine and still in stock? Enter the serial to confirm.</li>
<li><b>Sales</b> — Has this unit already been sold, and on which invoice? Review the transactions list.</li>
<li><b>Auditor</b> — What is the full movement trail of a serialised unit? Open each transaction's voucher.</li>
<li><b>Store keeper</b> — Which center currently holds this serial number? Read the Center in the header.</li>

| Header | Serial Number, Item Name, Item Code, Item Type, Base Unit, In Stock (Available / Not Available), and — when in stock — Center and Value. |
| Transactions | Date, Transaction Type, Transaction ID, Center and Notes for each movement of the serial number. |

<p><b>What if the serial number is not found?</b><br>The report shows "Serial Number Not Found". Check the number and try again.</p>

<p><b>How do I know if the unit is still in stock?</b><br>The header shows <b>In Stock</b> as Available or Not Available, and the holding center when available.</p>

<p><b>How do I open the documents that handled the serial number?</b><br>Click any transaction row to open the underlying voucher.</p>

<p><b>How is this different from Serial Number Stock?</b><br>This report follows one serial number end to end; <a href="#/inventory/reports/serial-number-stock">Serial Number Stock</a> lists all in-stock serial numbers for an item.</p>

<p><b>Can I search partial serial numbers?</b><br>Enter the full serial number exactly as recorded on the item line or label.</p>

<p><b>Why does history show a document I cancelled?</b><br>Cancelled movements may remain in the audit trail depending on when the serial was affected.</p>

<p><b>Does this show the current owner or customer?</b><br>In-stock serials show holding center; sold serials link to sale delivery and invoice history in the transaction list.</p>
