# Month Wise Item Movement Report

<h2 id="overview">Overview</h2>

Go to <b>Inventory → Inventory Reports → Month Wise Item Movement Report</b>.

<p><b>What it shows.</b> For one selected item, a row per month showing inward quantity and value, outward quantity and value, and the closing balance quantity and value. An opening balance row starts the table and a grand total closes it. A bar chart below the table plots the monthly <b>Inward Qty</b> and <b>Outward Qty</b>.</p>

<p><b>When to use it.</b> Use it to understand demand and supply patterns for a single item — to spot seasonality, build-ups, and run-downs over the period.</p>

<li><b>Purchase planner</b> — How does this item move month to month, and when does demand peak? Read the chart and outward columns.</li>
<li><b>Inventory controller</b> — Is closing stock for this item trending up or down? Follow the closing balance column.</li>

<b>Item</b> (required), <b>Center</b>, <b>Date</b> (date range; defaults to the current financial year).

| Particulars | The month, with an <b>Opening Balance</b> row first and a <b>Grand Total</b> row last. |
| Inwards — Quantity | Quantity received in the month. |
| Inwards — Value | Value of stock received in the month. |
| Outwards — Quantity | Quantity issued/sold in the month. |
| Outwards — Value | Value of stock issued in the month. |
| Closing Balance — Quantity | Quantity in stock at the end of the month. |
| Closing Balance — Value | Stock value at the end of the month. |

<p><b>Why do I need to select an item?</b><br>The report covers one item at a time. Select an <b>Item</b> before generating, or a warning is shown.</p>

<p><b>What does the chart show?</b><br>A bar chart of the monthly <b>Inward Qty</b> and <b>Outward Qty</b>, so you can see movement trends at a glance.</p>

<p><b>What period does it default to?</b><br>The current financial year. Change the <b>Date</b> range to cover a different span.</p>

<p><b>How is closing balance calculated?</b><br>It is the opening balance plus inward minus outward for each month, carried forward month to month.</p>

<p><b>Why is my report empty?</b><br>The item had no inward or outward movement in the selected date range.</p>

<p><b>Do adjustments appear in inward/outward?</b><br>Inventory adjustments and transfers may appear depending on how movements are classified for the item in the period.</p>

<p><b>Can I run this for multiple items?</b><br>No. Select one item per run; use <a href="#/inventory/reports/item-movement-report">Item Movement Report</a> for many items at once.</p>
