# Inventory Summary
Grouped summary of how much inventory you hold and its value at a point in time. Group the totals by item, center, batch, variant, warehouse bin or work-in-progress to see stock from any angle.
Overview
Go to Inventory → Inventory Reports → Inventory Summary.
What it shows. Quantity, average unit cost and value of stock, grouped by the dimensions you choose. Use the Group by buttons to summarise by Item, WIP, Center, Variant, Batch or Inv Bin (you can combine several). Totals for quantity and value appear at the bottom. Click an item row to open its transactions, or a batch row to open the batch enquiry.
When to use it. Use for valuation, for month-end stock summaries, and to compare stock across centers, batches or variants.
Use Cases
- Inventory controller — What is the quantity and value of stock by item right now? Run with Group by Item for a valuation snapshot.
- Branch manager — How is stock split across centers? Add Center to the grouping.
- Quality / compliance — How much stock is held by batch or expiry batch? Add Batch to the grouping.
- Production planner — How much stock is tied up in work-in-progress? Add WIP to the grouping.
Filters
Group by buttons: Item, WIP, Center, Variant, Batch, Inv Bin (combine as needed). Advanced Filter: Item, Item Type, Center, Batch, Variant, Inventory Bin, Brand, Item Group, Branch. Custom item fields marked to show in filters also appear here.
Columns
Columns adjust to the chosen grouping and options.

Actions
- Group by — choose one or more dimensions to summarise the stock
- More — toggle Show Value and Show Report Unit
- Export — export the report to Excel
- Print — print the report
- Advanced Filter — open additional filter fields
- clear — reset active advanced filters
FAQ
How is this different from the Stock Report?
Stock Report lists each item with a column per center. Inventory Summary lets you group and total stock by any combination of item, center, batch, variant, bin or WIP, and shows value and average cost.
Can I summarise by more than one dimension?
Yes. Click several Group by buttons (for example Item and Center) to combine them.
Why is the Value column empty?
Choose Show Value from the More menu to display stock value and average cost.
How do I view the movements behind a number?
Click an item row to open Item Transactions, or a batch row to open the batch enquiry.
Why is my report empty?
By default only items with quantity greater than zero appear. Enable Show Zero options if your layout supports them, or widen center and group filters.
Which stock is included?
On-hand quantities at approved inventory layers — batch, variant, bin, and WIP dimensions depend on your Group by selections.
Does this show reserved quantity?
Use Stock Availability to see reserved versus available stock by item.
