<h2 id="overview">Overview</h2>

Open **Home** → **Customers** to browse the customer master list. Tap a customer to open the detail view, or use **CREATE NEW** at the bottom of the list to add a customer in the field.

When a **route** is selected at the top of the Home tab, the customer list is filtered to customers on that route.

Customer **Statement** and **Outstanding Bills** reports are available from the **Reports** tab (see [Reports](field-sale-app/reports.md)).

<h2 id="customer-list">Customer list</h2>

The list shows active customers with name, customer group, and a quick **call** button when a phone number is stored.

<h3>Search and filter</h3>

- **Search customers…** — matches customer name, phone, or party code.
- **Customer Group** — filter by group, or choose **All Groups**.
- Pull down to refresh; scroll to load more customers (30 per page).

<h3 id="visit-tabs">Visit tabs</h3>

Below the search bar, three tabs filter the list by today's **customer check-in** activity:

| Tab | Shows |
|-----|-------|
| **All** | Every active customer (default) |
| **Visited** | Customers with a check-in recorded **today** for the salesman |
| **Not Visited** | Customers with **no** check-in today |

A customer counts as visited only when a **check-in record** exists for today. That includes:

- A manual **Check In** from the customer location map
- An **automatic check-in** when creating a Sale Invoice or Receipt Voucher, if **Auto customer checkin on invoice / receipt creation** is enabled on the user's settings

Creating an invoice or receipt alone does **not** mark the customer visited when that auto check-in setting is off (even if **Auto location save** is on).

Visit status uses the salesman's default **Employee** (from user settings) and the current day in the company time zone. Switching tabs reloads the list; search, customer group, and the active route on Home still apply.

<h3>List item</h3>

Each row shows:

- Customer name (with a **New** badge when the customer was created within the last 30 days)
- A green **Visited** badge when the customer has been checked in today
- Customer group (when set)
- **Phone** icon — tap to dial the stored number

Tap the row to open the customer view.

The customer detail screen is the hub for field sales activity on an account.

<h3>Header</h3>

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| **Party code** | Customer code when configured |
| **Name** | Customer / company name |
| **Brands** | Linked brands (when set) |
| **Phone** | Tap to call |
| **Email** | Contact email |
| **Address** | Primary billing address |
| **Contact** | Primary contact name and phone |

<h3>Details</h3>

When configured on the customer record:

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| **Route** | Sales route assignment |
| **Customer Group** | Group classification |
| **Sale Type** | Default sale type for the customer |
| **Customer Category** | Category label |

<h3>Quick Actions</h3>

Shortcut buttons start a new document with the customer pre-selected:

| Button | Opens |
|--------|-------|
| **Invoice** | New Sale Invoice |
| **Order** | New Sale Order |
| **Receipt** | New Receipt Voucher |

<h3>RP Summary</h3>

When returnable packaging is enabled and the customer holds RP stock, an **RP SUMMARY** section lists each returnable package type and the closing balance.

<h3>Location</h3>

The **LOCATION** section shows the customer on a map and supports field visit tracking:

- **Last Check-in** — relative time of the most recent check-in (for example **2 hours ago**), or **Not available**
- **Check In** — record a visit at the current GPS location (requires saved customer coordinates). Optional notes can be added in the check-in dialog.
- **Directions** — navigate icon on the map (bottom-right). Tap to open turn-by-turn directions to the customer pin in the device maps app (**Apple Maps** on iOS, **Google Maps** on Android). Shown when the customer has map coordinates.
- **Get My Location** — read device GPS onto the map
- **Save Location** / **Update Location** — save the current map pin when no coordinates exist yet, or update an existing pin (marker can be dragged before saving)

On **Android**, tapping the map marker can also show the Google Maps toolbar with Navigate / Open in Maps. On **iOS**, use the **Directions** icon on the map — Apple Maps does not show that toolbar.

Check-in uses the salesman’s default **Employee** from user settings. The web **Customer check-in boundary** setting (Field Sale App Settings) controls how close the salesman must be to the saved pin.

<h3>Attachments</h3>

When attachment access is enabled, view existing files and tap **Add Attachment** to upload from the device.

<h3>Edit and delete</h3>

Edit and delete icons appear in the header when the user role allows customer edit or delete.

<h2 id="customers-near-me">Customers Near Me</h2>

Below the Home tab tiles, **Customers Near Me** opens a GPS-based list of nearby customers.

<h3>How it works</h3>

1. The app reads the device location.
2. Customers within range are loaded (up to 10), optionally filtered by the active **route** on Home.
3. Each card shows party code, name, area/customer group, and phone.

<h3>Quick actions on each card</h3>

| Button | Opens |
|--------|-------|
| **Invoice** | New Sale Invoice for that customer |
| **Order** | New Sale Order for that customer |
| **View** | Customer detail view |

If no customers are found, the screen shows **No customers nearby** — move to another location or ensure customers have saved map coordinates.

<h2 id="faq">FAQ</h2>

<p><b>Why does Customers Near Me show no results?</b><br>
Customers need saved map coordinates on the web ERP. Enable location on the device and move within range — the list shows up to 10 customers, optionally filtered by the active route on Home.</p>

<p><b>How does customer check-in work?</b><br>
Check-in records GPS at the customer location when within the boundary set in <a href="#/settings/field-sale-app-settings">Field Sale App Settings</a>. Out-of-range check-in is rejected.</p>

<p><b>What do the Visited / Not Visited tabs on the customer list mean?</b><br>
They filter by whether a <b>customer check-in</b> exists for the salesman <b>today</b> (default Employee in user settings). <b>Visited</b> includes manual map check-ins and automatic check-ins from Sale Invoice / Receipt Voucher when <b>Auto customer checkin on invoice / receipt creation</b> is enabled. Invoice or receipt creation without that setting does <b>not</b> count as a visit. <b>All</b> shows everyone. A green <b>Visited</b> badge also appears on visited rows.</p>

<p><b>Can I create an invoice from the customer card?</b><br>
Yes. Use <b>Invoice</b>, <b>Order</b>, or <b>View</b> on Customers Near Me cards, or open the customer detail and use Quick Actions.</p>

<p><b>Why can't I edit a customer?</b><br>
Customer Edit and Delete icons require the matching permissions on the Field Sale App user role.</p>

<p><b>Where do I see outstanding balance?</b><br>
Customer detail shows balance when enabled in Field Sale App Settings and the user has Customer Statement or Outstanding Bills report access.</p>

<p><b>Does route filter affect the main customer list?</b><br>
The route selector on Home filters Customers Near Me and some lists. Clear or change the route to see all assigned customers.</p>

<p><b>Can I attach photos to a customer visit?</b><br>
Yes when attachment access is granted — use Add Attachment on the customer detail view.</p>

<p><b>How do I get directions to a customer?</b><br>
Open the customer detail view and tap the <b>Directions</b> (navigate) icon on the map. The device opens Apple Maps (iOS) or Google Maps (Android) with directions to the saved customer pin. The customer must have map coordinates saved first.</p>
